Don’t Mess with Basic Functionality, pt. 2

Don’t disable right-click. There are ways to capture content from your website if that is the visitor’s wish. Disabling the basic functionality of right-clicking risks making the user frustrated, leading to: a) the user leaving your website or, b) making the user annoyed enough to find a way to circumvent the blocked right-click.
There are legitimate reasons to right-click that have nothing to do with capturing your content, and there are better ways to protect it than to disable basic browser functionality. Watermarks for your images and videos, for example.
It is unlikely that a website owner can make their site completely “poach-proof”, but you can remove some low-hanging fruit without frustrating your visitors.
